Freddy Keiaho is back with the Colts.

The veteran linebacker, who had been on the NFL's open market since late February when he became an unrestricted free agent, re-signed with team. Terms of the contract were not immediately available.

Keiaho was a 2006 third-round draft pick who emerged as the weak-side starter the past two seasons. He had a career-high 114 tackles in 2008. With Keiaho unsigned, the Colts were expected to enter training camp with a starting group of Gary Brackett in the middle, Clint Session on the weak side and Philip Wheeler in the strong-side spot. Session started 16 games, including the playoffs, at strong-side linebacker last season. However, he was moved to weak-side to fill Keiaho's void and make room in the lineup for Wheeler, Indy's 2008 third-round pick.

The return of Keiaho and Tyjuan Hagler, who was re-signed earlier this month, should result in heated competition for playing time in training camp.

MEDICAL WATCH: Indianapolis officials remain hopeful that all of the Colts players who were sidelined last season and underwent medical procedures -- CB Marlin Jackson (knee), RB Mike Hart (knee), OG Ryan Lilja (knee), CB Michael Coe (knee), LB Gary Brackett (lower leg), TE Tom Santi (shoulder), CB/KR T.J. Rushing (knee) -- will be ready for the start of the 2009 regular season.

While most, if not all, could be ready to go by early September, how much work any of the group sees during OTAs, mini-camps and training camp remains to be seen.
